With a strong focus on regenerative medicine combined with a dedication to providing his patients, innovative, evidence-based solutions, Dr. Conenello has integrated EPAT (Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology) and ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Treatment) into his practice, Orangetown Podiatry.

Treating with EPAT, in combination with other modalities, Dr. Conenello has found his patients recover faster, avoid atrophy and spend less time immobilized, on crutches or in boots. Dr. Conenello’s strongly favors EPAT by CuraMedix, as his main healing instrument. Along with his holistic approach to diagnosis, he utilizes this technology with a keen eye and expert precision, attending his patients’ specific lower extremity problems.

What is EPAT (Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology)

EPAT is the most advance and highly effective non-invasive treatment method cleared by the FDA for the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. This proprietary technology is based on a unique set of pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation and accelerate the healing process. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals.

This treatment represents a breakthrough in addressing a broad range of musculo-skeletal conditions. Dr. Conenello has used this technology to address chronic muscle and bone pain, and/or pain that significantly impairs mobility or quality of life with great success.

Treatment Areas include:
  • Foot and heel pain
  • Achilles pain
  • Tendon and/or tendon insertion pain
  • Neuromas
  • Trigger points

Non-invasive Treatment?

EPAT is considered non-invasive because it’s performed at the physician’s office/clinic, Orangetown Podiatry. EPAT does NOT require anesthesia, requires a minimal amount of time, and patients can immediately bear weight (i.e. walk) and return to normal activity within a few days of the procedure. EPAT has a proven success rate that is equal to or greater than that of traditional treatment methods (including surgery) and without the risks, complications, and lengthy recovery time.

What are the possible side effects/complications?

This non-invasive treatment has virtually no risks or side effects. In some cases, patients may experience some minor discomfort which may continue for a few days. It is normal to experience some residual pain after intense exercise or a full day of work.

What are the expected results?

The benefits of EPAT are often experienced after only 3-5 treatments. Patients have reported immediate pain relief after the treatment, although it can take up to 4 weeks for pain relief to begin. The treatment is designed to eliminate pain and restore full mobility, improving your quality of life. Over 80% of patients treated report to be pain free and/or have significant pain reduction.

How does Orangetown Podiatry apply EPAT?

At Orangetown Podiatry, EPAT is administered by Dr. Conenello. After reviewing the patient’s medical history and understanding their pain, Dr. Conenello will determine the best course of treatment, Dr. Conenello applies coupling gel to the specified area to enhance effectiveness. After these preparations, EPAT applicator will be placed over the area in a circular motion and the device will release pressure waves into the affected area.

Treatment sessions take approximately 5-10 minutes depending on the disorder. Generally, 3-5 treatment sessions are necessary at 1 session per week schedule.

What will happen after the treatment?

Dr. Conenello will provide specific post-treatment instructions to during your recovery.

Are there any medical condition exceptions?

Dr. Conenello advocates for each one of his patients and takes into consideration their respective unique medical history. EPAT is not recommended for those with the following health conditions:

  • Malignancies
  • DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
  • Pregnancy

What is the cost for the treatment?
